The properties of latex disposable gloves
Latex disposable gloves and finger cots are - unlike disposable gloves made of vinyl or nitrile - products that come directly from nature. This is because the latex used in single-use gloves is obtained directly from rubber trees. Thanks to its outstanding physical properties and its comfort for the wearer, there is presently no suitable substitute for natural latex. Therefore, the primary areas of application for disposable latex gloves include clinics and health care facilities, doctors' or dentists' surgeries and nursing homes, as well as food production and processing facilities (to a limited extent, as cross-contamination can occur; nitrile is preferable here). Latex is a low-cost alternative to vinyl or nitrile.Latex disposable gloves in material thickness: "strong"
Thanks to the very thick material, which measures in at more than 0.16 mm thick, these strong products are safer and more tear-resistant, even when worn for long periods of time or subjected to extreme strain or demanding jobs. The breakthrough time is also much higher than with an ultra-thin, thin or medium-strength product of identical material.Quality of the latex gloves
These latex disposable gloves from the Med-Comfort brand are of "premium" quality. AMPri only offers products of either a very consistent basic standard of quality, a more deluxe "classic" quality or impressive "premium" quality. The powder-free, sterile, single-use glove is hand specific (L/R) (can be worn on either hand). It is not extra-long, which means it does not provide splash protection. The latex protective gloves gloves are fully textured, so they offer a significantly more effective grip than other non-textured or partially textured disposable gloves. "Extra grip" is a special attribute of these latex gloves. The Latex disposable gloves deliver real added value because they protect the user against potentially fatal hazards or permanent adverse health effects, as they meet the requirements for category III personal protective equipment (PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425). Among other things, they protect the skin from hazardous substances and compounds and offer protection from cuts. These latex gloves are categorised as class IIa medical devices. This class encompasses medical devices or products that can be used invasively and that pose only a moderate risk to patients. Of course, latex gloves can be included in strictly sterile equipment, as they are sterile themselves. The AQL value represents the quality standard of a batch or lot (acceptable quality limit). For medical disposable gloves, this value for tightness may be a maximum of 1.5, whereby the following generally applies: the lower the AQL value, the more convincing the production. These latex disposable gloves meet the requirements with an AQL value of 1.5. Protection from microorganisms is a main characteristic of these disposable gloves. The latex protective gloves keep the user safe from viruses, bacteria and fungi. The latex disposable gloves provide chemical protection (chemical protection type C) against penetration in accordance with the EN 374 standard. EN 374 sets the minimum penetration time for a certain length of time and for a specific number of chemicals from a list of defined test chemicals. Type A = 6 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type B = 3 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type C = 1 test chemical/10 minutes. Furthermore, the latex disposable gloves are airtight and watertight. We therefore recommend latex disposable gloves for the following sectors: other medicine and hospitals. - Latex is a completely natural product and is highly flexible.
- The tactile sensitivity is excellent.
- Latex gloves and finger cots also keep the wearer safe from numerous acids and alkalis.
The downsides of latex
- As a natural material, latex is dependent on harvest quantities and raw material prices. This can result in fluctuations in price.
- Latex disposable gloves are known for triggering allergies because they contain water-soluble proteins that might aggravate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, particularly in the case of powdered single-use gloves or finger cots.
- Oils and solvents can rapidly penetrate latex gloves and finger cots, so latex is not intended for handling these substances.
