Measurement and size tables for disposable gloves, shoes, anti-slip socks and clothing

Determining the right size for disposable gloves

Why is the right size so important for disposable gloves?

Disposable gloves that are too tight can be very uncomfortable on the hands, while disposable gloves that are too large worsen the sense of touch and thus also hinder work.

Correct determination of the size of the PPE disposable glove

PPE disposable gloves are specified in sizes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.

To determine the correct size of your disposable gloves, all you need is a flexible measuring tape and the illustration below. The correct size of your disposable gloves is important so that you can reliably carry out precise work with the disposable gloves over a longer period of time. First measure the circumference of your hand at the widest point with a tape measure. This is usually at about the level of the knuckles. The tape measure should rest on the skin, but not press against the hand or cut into the skin.

Now read off the circumference of your hand and use the diagram to determine the appropriate glove size.

Correctly determine the size of the disposable medical glove

Medical disposable gloves are specified in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL.

To determine the correct size of a disposable medical glove, the width of the palm from the beginning of the index finger to the lowest point of the little finger is used. Usually, the width of the disposable glove is measured rather than the palm.

If you are unsure or are wavering between two sizes, you can request samples in both sizes from us free of charge and without obligation. This way you can try out which size feels best on your hands and with which glove the tactile sensation is best before you decide on a box or carton in the corresponding size.

Is your disposable medical glove also a PPE glove?

Your disposable medical glove also belongs to the PPE glove category and therefore has a special regulation of dimensions.

We have developed an individual size chart exclusively for you.

To determine the chest circumference, measure slightly below the armpits horizontally around the chest.

Body height is determined from the highest point of the head to the side of the foot.

01037-XL Latex disposable gloves, XL, white, (latex paint)

We recommend the use of white latex disposable gloves for other medicine, hospitals, industry, close-contact services, the food industry, education, government authorities and occupational safety.

The properties of latex disposable gloves

Latex protective gloves and finger cots are - in contrast to vinyl or nitrile - completely natural products. This is because the latex used in single-use gloves is obtained directly from rubber trees. Thanks to its exceptional physical properties and comfortable fit, there is presently no true substitute for natural latex. Consequently, the main areas of application for disposable latex gloves include clinics and health care facilities, doctors' or dentists' surgeries and nursing homes, as well as food production and processing facilities (to a lesser extent, as cross-contamination can occur; nitrile is preferable here). Latex is a more affordable alternative to vinyl or nitrile.

Latex gloves in material thickness: "medium thickness"

The material is slightly thicker - this single-use product is between 0.09 mm and 0.16 mm thick (medium thickness), making it more puncture-resistant than a thin or ultra-thin disposable glove or finger cot. This disposable glove/finger cot is significantly sturdier and more durable than thinner items made of this material.

Quality of the latex gloves

These latex disposable gloves from the Med-Comfort brand are "premium" quality. AMPri exclusively offers products of either a very solid basic standard of quality, a more upscale "classic" quality or impressive "premium" quality. The powder-free, non-sterile, disposable glove is ambidextrous (can be worn on the left or the right hand). It has no extra length, which means it does not offer splash protection. These disposable gloves are fully textured. Fully textured latex disposable gloves have first-rate non-slip properties and are the right choice for working with slippery instruments or materials. This product features the special attribute "extra grip". As category III personal protective equipment in accordance with the PPE Regulation ((EU) 2016/425), they protect against health hazards that are irreversible or potentially fatal. In addition, the latex disposable gloves have a CE marking labelling them as a class I medical device. This classification primarily includes products that have no impact on the human body and pose minimal risk. These latex gloves are only suitable for non-sterile use. The production quality can be determined by the AQL value, i.e. the acceptable quality level. For disposable medical gloves, the AQL is 1.5 or less, which is exactly what these latex gloves meet.

Our recommendations for how latex disposable gloves should be used

These latex protective gloves are appropriate for handling food. They are especially useful for acidic food, dry food and watery food. Protection from microorganisms is a primary feature of these single-use gloves. The latex disposable gloves protect the wearer against viruses, bacteria and fungi. The latex gloves provide chemical protection (chemical protection type B) against penetration in line with the EN 374 standard. EN 374 sets the minimum penetration time for a defined period of time and for a specific number of chemicals from a list of specified test chemicals. Type A = 6 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type B = 3 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type C = 1 test chemical/10 minutes. Additionally, the latex gloves are airtight and waterproof. Consequently, we recommend latex disposable gloves for the following sectors: other medicine, hospitals, industry, close-contact services, the food industry, education, government authorities and occupational safety. If you have any questions about the possible uses of these latex disposable gloves or are wondering if they are right for your needs, please feel free to contact us via the contact form!

The advantages of latex

  • The biggest advantage of natural latex as a material is its incredible elasticity and tear resistance.
  • Latex is pleasant to wear and has almost no noticeable impact on tactile sensitivity.
  • It also keeps the skin safe from numerous acids and alkalis.

The disadvantages of latex in protecting the hands

  • Crop yields and raw material prices have an immediate impact on the market price of latex, which can be variable and volatile as a result.
  • If used regularly, latex is more likely to cause allergies because of the water-soluble proteins it contains. Latex gloves are not recommended for allergy sufferers. The powder on powdered latex gloves is also potentially hazardous because it can irritate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
  • Oils and solvents can quickly permeate latex protective gloves and finger cots, so latex is not approved for handling these substances.
