The properties of latex disposable gloves
Latex protective gloves and finger cots are - in contrast to vinyl or nitrile - products that come directly from nature. This is because the latex used in single-use gloves is extracted straight from rubber trees. Thanks to its outstanding physical properties and its comfort for the wearer, there is presently no real substitute for natural latex. Consequently, the main areas of application for disposable latex gloves include clinics and health care facilities, doctors' or dentists' surgeries and nursing homes, as well as food production and processing facilities (to a lesser extent, as cross-contamination can occur; nitrile is preferred here). Latex is a more affordable alternative to vinyl or nitrile.Latex disposable gloves in material thickness: "thin"
Thanks to the thin material (0.05 mm to a maximum of 0.09 mm thick), this product offers excellent tactile sensitivity, and the breakthrough time is longer than in an ultra-thin single-use glove or finger cot of identical material. This protective product is also stronger and longer-lasting than thinner single-use products.Quality of the latex disposable gloves
These latex protective gloves from the Basic-Plus brand are of "basic" quality. AMPri exclusively sells products of either a very high basic standard of quality, a more deluxe "classic" quality or impressive "premium" quality. The powdered, non-sterile, disposable glove is ambidextrous (can be used on either hand). It is not extra-long, which means it does not offer splash protection. These disposable gloves are fully textured. Fully textured latex disposable gloves have first-rate slip-proof properties and are the right choice for working with slippery instruments or materials. This product features the special characteristic "extra grip". As category III personal protective equipment in line with the PPE Regulation ((EU) 2016/425), they provide protection from health risks that are irreversible or can lead to death. Latex disposable gloves are categorised as class I medical devices. This class encompasses medical items or products that have no effect on the body and ordinarily pose minimal risk. The latex gloves are non-sterile; as a result, they are not designated for use in sterile applications. The AQL value represents the quality standard of a batch or lot (acceptable quality limit). For medical disposable gloves, this value for tightness may be a maximum of 1.5, whereby the following generally applies: the lower the AQL value, the more convincing the production. These latex protective gloves meet the requirements with an AQL value of 1.5.Our recommendations for how latex disposable gloves should be used
These latex protective gloves are appropriate for handling food. They are particularly intended for acidic food and dry food. Protection from microorganisms is a primary feature of these single-use gloves. The latex disposable gloves protect the wearer against viruses, bacteria and fungi. The latex gloves provide chemical protection (chemical protection type B) against penetration in accordance with the EN 374 standard. EN 374 sets the minimum penetration time for a defined length of time and for a specific number of chemicals from a list of specified test chemicals. Type A = 6 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type B = 3 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type C = 1 test chemical/10 minutes. Furthermore, the latex gloves are airtight and waterproof. We therefore recommend latex gloves for these sectors: the food industry, close-contact services, other medicine, hospitals, industry, education, government authorities and occupational safety. If you have any questions about the possible uses of these latex gloves or are wondering if they are right for your needs, please feel free to get in touch with us via the contact form!Latex disposable gloves: The benefits of latex
- The greatest advantage of natural latex as a material is its enormous elasticity and tear resistance.
- Latex is pleasant to wear and has almost no noticeable impact on tactile sensitivity.
- It also offers protection against a wide range of acids and alkalis.
The disadvantages of latex in protecting the skin
- As a raw material sourced from nature, latex is dependent on harvest quantities and commodity prices. This can cause fluctuations in price.
- If worn regularly, latex is more likely to trigger allergies because of the water-soluble proteins it contains. Latex protective gloves are not recommended for allergy sufferers. The powder on powdered latex gloves is also a potential hazard because it can irritate the respiratory system.
- Oils and solvents can rapidly penetrate latex protective gloves and finger cots, so latex is not intended for handling such substances.
