The properties of latex disposable gloves
Latex disposable gloves and finger cots are - unlike disposable gloves made of vinyl or nitrile - products that come directly from nature. This is because the latex used in single-use gloves is obtained directly from rubber trees. Thanks to its outstanding physical properties and its comfort for the wearer, there is presently no suitable replacement for natural latex. Consequently, the main areas of application for disposable latex gloves include clinics and health care facilities, doctors' or dentists' surgeries and care homes, as well as food production and processing facilities (to a lesser extent, as cross-contamination can occur; nitrile is preferred here). Latex is a more affordable alternative to vinyl or nitrile.Latex gloves in material thickness: "medium thickness"
The material is slightly thicker - this single-use product is between 0.09 mm and 0.16 mm thick (medium thickness), making it more puncture-resistant than a thin or ultra-thin disposable glove or finger cot. This disposable glove/finger cot is significantly stronger and more durable than thinner products made of this material.Quality of the latex disposable gloves
These latex gloves from the Med-Comfort brand are "premium" quality. AMPri only offers products of either a very high basic standard of quality, a more deluxe "classic" quality or top-notch "premium" quality. The powder-free, non-sterile, disposable glove is ambidextrous (can be used on either hand). It does not have additional length, which means it does not provide splash protection. These disposable gloves are fully textured. Fully textured latex protective gloves have excellent slip-proof properties and are ideal when working with slippery tools or materials. This product features the special characteristic "extra grip". As category III personal protective equipment as defined by the PPE Regulation ((EU) 2016/425), they provide protection from health hazards that are irreversible or potentially fatal. Medical devices are classified in terms of the potential risk they pose to the patient. Class I comprises items that pose little or no risk. And that is exactly the case for these latex gloves. The latex disposable gloves are non-sterile; as a result, they cannot be used in sterile applications. The production quality can be determined by the AQL value, i.e. the acceptable quality level. For disposable medical gloves, the AQL is 1.5 or less, which is exactly what these latex disposable gloves meet. Our suggestions for how latex protective gloves should be used
Latex protective gloves are particularly appropriate for food containing alcohol, greasy food, acidic food, dry food and watery food and, consequently, are intended for food handling in general. The latex gloves offer protection from microorganisms and are therefore impervious to viruses, bacteria and fungi. Consequently, we recommend latex gloves for these sectors: other medicine, industry, hospitals, close-contact services, the food industry, education, government authorities and occupational safety. - Latex is a natural product of rubber trees; it is highly supple and durable.
- The tactile sensitivity is very good.
- Latex protective gloves and finger cots are resistant to a broad range of acids and alkalis.
Latex disposable gloves: the downsides of latex
- Harvest yields and raw material prices have an immediate impact on the market price of latex, which can be variable and unpredictable as a result.
- Latex protective gloves are known as allergenic because they contain water-soluble proteins that could irritate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, especially in the case of powdered single-use gloves or finger cots.
- Latex disposable gloves and finger cots are not approved for handling oils or solvents, as these substances can quickly permeate the material.
