The properties of latex disposable gloves
Latex protective gloves and finger cots are - in contrast to vinyl or nitrile - products made of natural materials. This is because the latex used in single-use gloves is extracted directly from rubber trees. Thanks to its excellent physical properties and its comfort for the wearer, there is presently no real replacement for natural latex. Therefore, the main areas of application for disposable latex gloves include clinics and health care facilities, doctors' or dentists' surgeries and nursing homes, as well as food production and processing facilities (to a limited extent, as cross-contamination can occur; nitrile is preferable here). Latex is a cost-effective alternative to vinyl or nitrile.Latex disposable gloves in material thickness: "medium thickness"
The material is slightly thicker - this disposable product is between 0.09 mm and 0.16 mm thick (medium thickness), making it less likely to puncture than a thin or ultra-thin disposable glove or finger cot. This disposable glove/finger cot is considerably stronger and more durable than thinner items made of this material.Quality of the latex protective gloves
These latex gloves from the Eco-Plus brand are of "classic" quality. AMPri exclusively sells products of either a very high basic standard of quality, a more deluxe "classic" quality or impressive "premium" quality. The powder-free, non-sterile, single-use glove is ambidextrous (can be worn on either hand). It has no extra length, which means it does not offer splash protection. These single-use gloves are fingertip textured. Fingertip textured latex protective gloves have first-rate slip-proof properties and are an ideal choice if you need to work with slippery tools or materials. As category III personal protective equipment in line with the PPE Regulation ((EU) 2016/425), they provide protection from health risks that are irreversible or potentially fatal. The fact that these disposable gloves are rated as a class I medical device means they pose little or no risk to wearers or patients, as the latex protective gloves have no effect on the body when worn briefly. The latex disposable gloves are non-sterile; as a result, they are not approved for sterile applications. The AQL value represents the quality standard of a batch or lot (acceptable quality limit). For medical disposable gloves, this value for tightness may be a maximum of 1.5, whereby the following generally applies: the lower the AQL value, the more convincing the production. These latex protective gloves meet the requirements with an AQL value of 1.5.Our recommendations for how latex disposable gloves should be used
Latex disposable gloves are particularly appropriate for dry food and watery food and, consequently, are intended for food handling in general. The latex gloves offer protection from microorganisms and are consequently impervious to viruses, bacteria and fungi. Chemical protection type B signifies that the latex gloves provide protection from penetration in accordance with the crucial EN 374 standard. It defines the minimum penetration time for a specific number of chemicals from a list of defined test chemicals. Type A = 6 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type B = 3 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type C = 1 test chemical/10 minutes. The gloves are also airtight and waterproof. We therefore recommend latex gloves for the following sectors: occupational safety, other medicine, close-contact services, industry, the food industry, education, government authorities and hospitals. - Latex is a wholly natural product and is highly flexible.
- The tactile sensitivity is very good.
- It also keeps the skin safe from numerous acids and alkalis.
Latex protective gloves: the downsides of latex
- Unfortunately, volatile prices are always possible, as latex is a natural raw material that depends on harvest yields and market prices.
- Latex disposable gloves are known as allergenic because they contain water-soluble proteins that may irritate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, especially in the case of powdered disposable gloves or finger cots.
- Latex disposable gloves can be permeated by oil and solvents and, consequently, they are not intended for handling these substances.
