Measurement and size tables for disposable gloves, shoes, anti-slip socks and clothing

Determining the right size for disposable gloves

Why is the right size so important for disposable gloves?

Disposable gloves that are too tight can be very uncomfortable on the hands, while disposable gloves that are too large worsen the sense of touch and thus also hinder work.

Correct determination of the size of the PPE disposable glove

PPE disposable gloves are specified in sizes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.

To determine the correct size of your disposable gloves, all you need is a flexible measuring tape and the illustration below. The correct size of your disposable gloves is important so that you can reliably carry out precise work with the disposable gloves over a longer period of time. First measure the circumference of your hand at the widest point with a tape measure. This is usually at about the level of the knuckles. The tape measure should rest on the skin, but not press against the hand or cut into the skin.

Now read off the circumference of your hand and use the diagram to determine the appropriate glove size.

Correctly determine the size of the disposable medical glove

Medical disposable gloves are specified in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL.

To determine the correct size of a disposable medical glove, the width of the palm from the beginning of the index finger to the lowest point of the little finger is used. Usually, the width of the disposable glove is measured rather than the palm.

If you are unsure or are wavering between two sizes, you can request samples in both sizes from us free of charge and without obligation. This way you can try out which size feels best on your hands and with which glove the tactile sensation is best before you decide on a box or carton in the corresponding size.

Is your disposable medical glove also a PPE glove?

Your disposable medical glove also belongs to the PPE glove category and therefore has a special regulation of dimensions.

We have developed an individual size chart exclusively for you.

To determine the chest circumference, measure slightly below the armpits horizontally around the chest.

01045-XL Latex protective gloves, XL, red

There are countless potential applications for latex gloves (red). From the medical sector to the cosmetics counter, red latex gloves are in demand everywhere thanks to their colour, and they easily complement the colour scheme of the building. We recommend latex protective gloves in size XL (red) especially for government authorities, occupational safety, education, other medicine, industry, close-contact services, hospitals and the food industry.

The properties of latex disposable gloves

Latex gloves and finger cots are - in contrast to vinyl or nitrile - completely natural products. This is because the latex used in single-use gloves is harvested directly from rubber trees. Thanks to its excellent physical properties and comfortable fit, there is presently no real substitute for natural latex. Consequently, the primary areas of application for disposable latex gloves include clinics and health care facilities, doctors' or dentists' surgeries and nursing homes, as well as food production and processing facilities (to a limited extent, as cross-contamination can occur; nitrile is preferable here). Latex is a more affordable alternative to vinyl or nitrile.

Latex disposable gloves in material thickness: "strong"

Thanks to the very thick material, which measures in at more than 0.16 mm thick, these strong products are safer and less likely to break, even when worn for greater lengths of time or subjected to extreme stress or demanding tasks. The breakthrough time is also significantly higher than with an ultra-thin, thin or medium-strength product made of the same material.

Quality of the latex gloves

These latex protective gloves from the Absogel brand are "premium" quality. AMPri exclusively offers products of either a very solid basic standard of quality, a more deluxe "classic" quality or superior "premium" quality. The powder-free, non-sterile, single-use glove is ambidextrous (can be worn on either hand) and has extra length. These disposable gloves are fully textured. Fully textured latex gloves have first-rate slip-proof properties and are ideal when working with slippery instruments or materials. As category III personal protective equipment in line with the PPE Regulation ((EU) 2016/425), they protect the user from health risks that are permanent or potentially fatal. Latex disposable gloves are categorised as class I medical devices. This class comprises products that have no effect on the body and usually pose very little risk. The latex protective gloves are non-sterile; consequently, they cannot be used in sterile applications. The AQL (acceptable quality limit) is the maximum permitted number of defective (permeable) individual samples in a batch or lot (performance level/AQL). For single-use medical gloves, an AQL level for impermeability that does not exceed 1.5 is prescribed in the EN 455-1 standard - which the Latex protective gloves adhere to precisely.

We recommend latex protective gloves for the following applications

Latex gloves are particularly appropriate for food containing alcohol, greasy food, acidic food, dry food and watery food and, consequently, are intended for food handling in general. The latex protective gloves offer protection from microorganisms and are therefore impervious to viruses, bacteria and fungi. Chemical protection type B indicates that the latex disposable gloves offer protection against permeation as defined by the crucial EN 374 standard. It defines the minimum penetration time for a certain number of chemicals from a list of specified test chemicals. Type A = 6 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type B = 3 test chemicals/30 minutes, Type C = 1 test chemical/10 minutes. The gloves are also airtight and waterproof. We therefore recommend latex gloves for these sectors: government authorities, occupational safety, education, other medicine, industry, close-contact services, hospitals and the food industry. If you have any questions about the possible uses of these latex gloves or are wondering if they are the right solution for your requirements, please feel free to get in touch with us via the contact form!

Latex disposable gloves: The benefits of latex

  • Latex is a natural product of rubber trees; it is highly stretchable and durable.
  • Latex allows for optimal tactile sensitivity.
  • Latex gloves and finger cots also keep the wearer safe from numerous acids and alkalis.

The disadvantages of latex

  • Unfortunately, price fluctuations are always possible, as latex is a natural raw material that relies on harvest yields and market prices.
  • Latex protective gloves are known for triggering allergies because they contain water-soluble proteins that may irritate the mucous membranes of the respiratory system, especially in the case of powdered disposable gloves or finger cots.
  • Oils and solvents can immediately penetrate latex gloves and finger cots, so latex is not intended for handling such substances.
