A urinal bottle holder is a reusable holder, often made of PVC-coated metal, that securely fixes an angular urinal bottle to the bed frame, the bedside table or the patient-transport frame. It prevents tipping over and thus splashing hazards, keeps the bottle within reach and ensures order in the patient room. AMPri offers urinal bottle holders as professional ward supplies – including versions with lid and chain as well as without lid and chain, each for angular urinal bottles made of plastic or glass. The urinal bottle holders are stock items and are available with volume discounts for the medical trade.

1. What is a urinal bottle holder? Definition and purpose
A urinal bottle holder is a mount, often made of bent, PVC-coated metal wire, into which a urinal bottle is placed and hung on the bed or frame. It belongs to the ward-supply accessories and fulfils a simple but important function in everyday care: it keeps the urinal bottle upright and within reach so that it does not tip over and the contents do not leak.
The practical benefit is considerable in everyday hospital and care work. A tipping urinal bottle means not only extra cleaning work but also a hygiene risk. The holder keeps the bottle in a defined position so that patient and nursing staff can reach it without searching. It thus supports safe and discreet care – especially for bedridden or mobility-impaired patients.
The urinal bottle holder is a reusable product: it is not consumed but mounted permanently and cleaned regularly as well as disinfected when required. It complements the actual ➡️ urinal bottle and is a widely used aid of the ward equipment in clinical and care facilities.
2. Selected AMPri urinal bottle holders in detail
AMPri offers urinal bottle holders in various versions; the range is continuously developed. Two popular models differ above all in one point: whether a lid with chain is present. Both are made of white, PVC-coated metal and are designed as reusable products.
Popular AMPri models:
09280 – urinal bottle holder with lid and chain. The holder with a lid firmly connected via a chain. The chain prevents the lid from getting lost and supports low-odour, hygienic storage of the placed bottle. Width 135 mm, white, made of PVC-coated metal.
➡️ 09280 – urinal bottle holder with lid, white
09280-ODK – urinal bottle holder without lid and chain. The reduced version for quick routine use, where the bottle is closed by its own lid anyway. Same construction and material as the 09280, without lid and chain.
➡️ 09280-ODK – urinal bottle holder without lid, white
| Model | Lid + chain | Material | Colour | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 09280 | yes | metal, PVC-coated | white | angular urinal bottles |
| 09280-ODK | no | metal, PVC-coated | white | angular urinal bottles |
With or without lid – which urinal bottle holder fits better?
Both versions fulfil the same basic function and differ above all in handling. The version with lid and chain offers the option of additionally covering the placed urinal bottle; the lid stays firmly connected to the holder. The version without lid and chain is particularly reduced in design and is correspondingly easy to clean.
Which version is suitable depends on the area of use, the urinal bottles in use and the respective cleaning and hygiene requirements on site. Function, material and compatibility are identical for both versions.
3. Compatibility – which urinal bottles fit?
Compatibility is the most important selection criterion for the urinal bottle holder. According to the manufacturer, the AMPri urinal bottle holders (e.g. 09280 and 09280-ODK) are designed for all angular urinal bottles made of plastic or glass. They therefore fit the angular AMPri male urinal bottles ➡️ 09281 (PP), ➡️ 09282 (PE) and ➡️ 09283 (PC).
Important: oval urinal bottles do not fit the angular holders for design reasons. This applies to the oval male variant ➡️ 09271-M (PVC) and the ➡️ oval female urinal bottle 09271-F. Anyone planning a holder on the bed should therefore choose an angular bottle model from the outset. This distinction prevents incorrect orders, which recur in ward supplies.
For procurement, a combined order is therefore recommended: angular urinal bottle plus matching holder. Anyone who already stocks oval bottles uses them as hand-held bottles without a bed holder. In case of uncertainty about the exact fit of a specific model, the AMPri sales team provides binding information.
4. Mounting and use on the bed
Mounting the urinal bottle holder is tool-free: the holder is hung over the bed frame, the side rail or a frame strut with its bent bracket. Thanks to its own weight and shape it sits stably without slipping. The urinal bottle is then placed into the mount from above.
The holder is usually attached to the side of the bed. The position should be chosen so that the urinal bottle is easily reachable for the patient while at the same time allowing simple removal, cleaning and control by the nursing staff. With the version with lid and chain, the lid always stays on the holder, which makes closing between uses easier and reduces odour.
The holder also does good service in patient transport: it keeps the bottle in position during the journey and prevents spillage. After use the bottle is removed, closed and brought to reprocessing; the holder remains on the bed or frame and is cleaned and disinfected regularly.
5. Material, cleaning and hygiene
Urinal bottle holders are offered in two material versions: with a PVC coating on metal or as uncoated metal (e.g. stainless steel). The AMPri holders shown are made of PVC-coated metal. Both designs have characteristic advantages and disadvantages that must be weighed against each other depending on the place of use.
| Version | Advantages | To consider |
|---|---|---|
| PVC-coated metal | corrosion-protected, smooth and easily wipeable surface, low-noise contact | if the coating is damaged, cleaning becomes more difficult – then replace |
| Uncoated metal (stainless steel) | very robust, heat- and disinfection-resistant, no coating wear; proven as a drip or wall holder above the cleaning sink | bare wire without protective layer; appearance looks more clinical |
As a reusable product, the holder is reprocessed according to the internal hygiene plan. The urinal bottle holder is to be reprocessed by wipe disinfection with a suitable agent from the ➡️ surface disinfection category (VAH-listed [2]) after visible contamination, on a change of resident or patient and in the case of infectious diseases. For person-specific use without visible soiling, regular cleaning according to the hygiene plan is sufficient. The specific intervals follow the recommendations of KRINKO at the Robert Koch Institute [1].
Important for practice: the holder does not replace the reprocessing of the urinal bottle itself. While the bottle is thermally or chemically disinfected after each use, regular wipe disinfection of the surface is sufficient for the holder. If a specific design – such as an uncoated stainless steel holder – is needed and is not listed, AMPri as a solution provider procures suitable items from the minimum order quantity (MOQ); enquiries are welcome by ➡️ e-mail to info@ampri.de.
6. Areas of use, wall holders and procurement
The urinal bottle holder is used wherever urinal bottles are kept ready at the bed: in hospitals, rehab facilities, care and nursing homes, in home care and in patient transport. In clinical and care facilities it is part of the practical care and ward equipment; in home care it is attached to the care bed for permanently bedridden patients.
In addition to bed and frame holders, there are wall holders for holding one or more urinal bottles. They are mounted in sanitary and washing rooms and serve space-saving storage as well as the draining of cleaned bottles above the cleaning sink. If such a design is not listed, AMPri purchasing helps as a solution provider and procures suitable items from the minimum order quantity (MOQ) – enquiry by ➡️ e-mail to info@ampri.de.
Procurement for facilities is via B2B wholesale through the medical trade. AMPri delivers directly from the central warehouse in Winsen (Luhe); the urinal bottle holders are stock items and available with volume discounts. Holder and matching angular urinal bottles are often ordered together as bundled ➡️ ward supplies.
Anyone looking for the matching bottle for the holder will find the angular models in the ➡️ male urinal bottles category. AMPri offers the matching blue replacement lid and the cleaning brush in the ➡️ urinal bottle accessories category.
