Measurement and size tables for disposable gloves, shoes, anti-slip socks and clothing

Determining the right size for disposable gloves

Why is the right size so important for disposable gloves?

Disposable gloves that are too tight can be very uncomfortable on the hands, while disposable gloves that are too large worsen the sense of touch and thus also hinder work.

Correct determination of the size of the PPE disposable glove

PPE disposable gloves are specified in sizes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.

To determine the correct size of your disposable gloves, all you need is a flexible measuring tape and the illustration below. The correct size of your disposable gloves is important so that you can reliably carry out precise work with the disposable gloves over a longer period of time. First measure the circumference of your hand at the widest point with a tape measure. This is usually at about the level of the knuckles. The tape measure should rest on the skin, but not press against the hand or cut into the skin.

Now read off the circumference of your hand and use the diagram to determine the appropriate glove size.

Correctly determine the size of the disposable medical glove

Medical disposable gloves are specified in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL.

To determine the correct size of a disposable medical glove, the width of the palm from the beginning of the index finger to the lowest point of the little finger is used. Usually, the width of the disposable glove is measured rather than the palm.

If you are unsure or are wavering between two sizes, you can request samples in both sizes from us free of charge and without obligation. This way you can try out which size feels best on your hands and with which glove the tactile sensation is best before you decide on a box or carton in the corresponding size.

Is your disposable medical glove also a PPE glove?

Your disposable medical glove also belongs to the PPE glove category and therefore has a special regulation of dimensions.

We have developed an individual size chart exclusively for you.

To determine the chest circumference, measure slightly below the armpits horizontally around the chest.

Body height is determined from the highest point of the head to the side of the foot.

081307-S SolidSafety High Risk Pro nitrile gloves, blue, size S

Rely on these blue nitrile gloves in size S. Size S fits narrower, smaller hands snugly without constricting and is therefore ideal for users with slim hands who want to keep a secure sense of touch even during intricate tasks. The nitrile disposable gloves offer good protection against soiling and risks, are hygienic and enable safe, comfortable work. We recommend them for authorities, education, industry, close-contact services and the food industry. The signal colour blue is a real asset in the food industry, as there are hardly any naturally blue foods and the gloves are quickly spotted if accidentally lost. These nitrile gloves are food-safe and approved for contact with alcoholic, fatty, acidic, dry and aqueous foods.

The properties

Nitrile gloves fit like a second skin and offer a high degree of flexibility. Nitrile is a synthetic rubber (elastic polymers) that is extremely flexible and tear-resistant. Disposable gloves made of nitrile stay tight up to their tear limit and do not become leaky or permeable when over-stretched. They are highly resistant to oils, fats and solvents and reliably protect against viruses and germs. This makes them suitable for many areas, such as clinics and healthcare facilities, elderly and nursing care, medical and dental practices, food production and processing, cleaning tasks, the pharmaceutical and chemical industry as well as hairdressing, cosmetics and tattoo studios as part of personal protective equipment.

Thanks to the high material thickness of over 0.16 mm, these sturdy nitrile disposable gloves are particularly tear-resistant even over long wear, including under heavy strain and demanding applications. The breakthrough time is also considerably longer than for an ultra-thin, thin or medium-strong glove of identical material. The fully textured surface gives these nitrile gloves a much better grip than gloves that are not or only partially textured – and they are particularly grippy on top of that.

Quality and certification

At AMPri you can rely on all articles being of proven high quality. These nitrile gloves are of Premium quality. The powder-free, non-sterile nitrile gloves can be used by left- and right-handers alike, as they are ambidextrous. The extra length provides ideal splash protection at the wrist and parts of the forearm. As personal protective equipment under category III of the PPE Regulation ((EU) 2016/425), they protect against health risks that are irreversible or may lead to death. The AQL level (acceptable quality limit) indicates the maximum permissible percentage of defective (leaky) gloves in a lot. The smaller the AQL value, the better the quality. For medical disposable gloves, standard EN 455-1 requires an AQL of 1.5. With an AQL value of 0.65, these nitrile gloves are rated considerably better, which proves the outstanding production quality.

These nitrile gloves must not be used in sterile environments as they are non-sterile themselves. Chemical protection type A indicates protection against permeation according to EN 374: type A covers at least 6 test chemicals with a minimum breakthrough time of 30 minutes each. They are also air- and watertight. Micro-organism protection against viruses, bacteria and fungi is likewise provided. The gloves were tested for abrasion resistance and achieved level 2 (up to 1999 revolutions of the test disc), so they are considered fairly abrasion-resistant. For these reasons we recommend the nitrile gloves for the following sectors: authorities, education, industry, close-contact services and the food industry. Should you have questions about these or other applications, please do not hesitate to contact us via the contact form.

The advantages of the material nitrile

  • Nitrile is very stretchable and can be stretched to over 500 percent of its dimensions. Particularly remarkable: nitrile has a so-called material memory and thus adapts to the shape of the hands in a tailored way.
  • Nitrile gloves are stronger than other disposable gloves and therefore safer. They also offer optimal grip.
  • Their resistance to chemicals enables a broad range of applications. For people with allergies they are the ideal alternative to latex, because nitrile is protein-free.
